Dr. Rex Brown received his BS in Pharmacy from Ferris State
University (Big Rapids, Michigan) in June 1971, and received his
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Tennessee in
June, 1980. He completed a residency in nutrition support at the
City of Memphis Hospital (MED) in 1981.
Dr. Brown began his academic career as a Clinical Assistant
Professor at the University of North Carolina in August, 1981. In
1984 he moved to the University of Tennessee in Memphis as an
assistant professor and currently is at the rank of professor in
the Department of Clinical Pharmacy.
Dr. Brown served as Vice Chair for Postdoctoral Training in 1991-2
and has been Vice Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy
since July, 2000.
Dr. Brown has been certified by the Board of Pharmaceutical
Specialists as a Nutrition Support Pharmacist since 1992. He
became a Fellow in the American College of Nutrition in 1987 and
the American College of Clinical Pharmacy in 1999.
Dr. Brown's clinical and research interests are nutrition support
and critical care.
